Superfluid Foundation year 1 budget: seeking community feedback

Transparency and alignment with the community are essential to the Superfluid Foundation’s work to support the DAO’s long-term success. As we enter the first year of the Foundation’s operations, we want to share the Foundation’s proposed budget. Whilst the Foundation treasury is separate to the DAO treasury (which is managed directly by the DAO as detailed here), the Foundation wishes to invite feedback from the community on its budget.

The budget focuses on core priorities that sustain and grow the Superfluid ecosystem, while ensuring efficient resource allocation. Below is an overview of the key areas and planned initiatives for Year 1, defined here as starting April 2025, to exclude the initial setup phase prior to that.

Year 1 Priorities

  1. Governance: support decentralization of the protocol through infrastructure and engagement by

    • improving community feedback, voting infrastructure and SUP claim app capabilities
    • enabling high-quality campaign applications that align with DAO objectives

  2. Protocol: safeguard the stability and performance of Superfluid protocol v1 by

    • continuously monitoring protocol health and performance
    • ensuring security best practices and risk mitigation

  3. Treasury: support and prepare for the DAO’s future decisions on token transferability by

    • preparing to manage liquidity, exchange listings, and treasury programs required for a potential DAO-led decision on token transferability
    • ensuring sustainable treasury operations aligned with ecosystem needs

  4. Ecosystem: support developers and organizations building with Superfluid by

    • fostering the growth of ecosystem applications and developer engagement
    • providing guidance and resources to projects integrating Superfluid

  5. Marketing: support building a strong community and adoption of Superfluid-powered apps by

    • fostering the growth of the Superfluid user base and ecosystem project adoption
    • aligning communications and milestones with DAO priorities

Budget Allocation

The Foundation’s proposed budget for Year 1 is $1.2 million, with allocation across priorities as shown below.

Thank you for the clear breakdown of the proposed Year 1 budget. It’s great to see a strong commitment to governance and ecosystem growth. I believe governance can play a key role in the success of the project, especially when backed by a dedicated budget to support meaningful initiatives.

Fostering ecosystem development around Superfluid is essential — network effects are critical for the protocol’s long-term viability. I’m particularly glad to see support for developers and new ideas that can help build this fluid economy. Enabling and empowering builders will be one of the best investments the Foundation can make.

Looking forward to seeing how these priorities evolve with community input.
