The Inaugural list of Ecosystem Campaigns (’Season 1’) will be determined by the Superfluid Foundation based on advice from the proto DAO, before there are a critical mass of token holders.

Once the DAO is fully operational and the Foundation deems there are a critical mass of token holders, future seasons of Ecosystem Campaigns will be chosen on the basis of DAO votes.

The proto DAO will be invited to vote on the following configuration for Season 1. Delegates interested in joining the Proto DAO: please reply to this thread indicating your interest.

Season 1

Until the DAO is full operational and token holders and their Delegates can vote, it makes sense for the inaugural Ecosystem Campaign to feature the biggest apps and experiences available today in the Superfluid ecosystem.

Season 1 will feature 5 rewards campaigns featuring these apps, designed to incentivize usage of the protocol :

  • AlfaFrens
  • SuperBoring
  • Recurring Donations: Giveth & Flow State
  • GoodDollar

and the following growth campaigns:

  • Superfluid-powered Salaries (including Grants such as Optimism’s RPGF)
  • Superfluid Community Activations

AlfaFrens

Social subscriptions app that helps content creators connect with their fans and get paid every second

Superfluid Payments

Superfluid | Organisations

A campaign to incentivize getting paid every second by your employer or grant-giving organization

New and existing recipients of salary or rewards streams from web3 projects and organizations will be given a bonus incentive of SUP token allocations to reflect their stake in the Superfluid ecosystem and its governance.

Organization paying team members every second, and receivers of streams being paid every second by their team, can sign up to register.

Registrants will be vetted by a committee to avoid sybils and certain use cases such as vesting to project investors, which are explicitly excluded.

Superfluid | Stream Money Every Second

A campaign to recognize past users and reward future users of Superfluid via campaigns, collaborations, activations and IRL events

New and existing holders of Superfluid NFTs from various quests, activations and meetups will be rewarded with allocations in the Community Activation campaign.

Users who have participated in the Superfluid community in the past, might qualify for this campaign.

The number of qualifying projects is expected to grow throughout the season, with ongoing campaigns initiated by the Superfluid Foundation.

The ProtoDAO wouldn’t have a delegate system in place, right?
(probably also uses a different Voting-Token)

And what’s expected from ProtoDAO participants to do (besides casting a Snapshot DAO vote)?

The Proto DAO would not have a delegate system - just individual members (on a Snapshot ‘whitelist’ strategy) discussing and voting on the Proto DAO proposals. Delegate activity kicks in when there are token holders after TGE. The ProtoDAO will only be active until the DAO is fully operational, at which point delegation will exist

SIP #1 - Ecosystem Campaigns - Season 1

Abstract

SIP - Ecosystem Campaigns - Season 1 starts the first distribution of SUP tokens to users of ecosystem applications, incentivising usage and adoption of the protocol. ‘Season 1’ will be determined by the Superfluid Foundation based on advice from the proto DAO, before there are a critical mass of token holders.

Motivation

SIP - Ecosystem Campaigns - Season 1 kick starts the distribution of SUP tokens to those most interested in the future of the protocol and is an important step in the protocol’s decentralisation journey.

Rationale

Once the DAO is fully operational and token holders and their Delegates can vote, it makes sense for the inaugural Ecosystem Campaign to feature the biggest apps and experiences available today in the Superfluid ecosystem.

Specifications

The proposal is to allocate 50,000,000 (Fifty Million) SUP, which corresponds to 5% of the total supply, to the following seven Season 1 Campaigns, split as follows:

  • 25% - AlfaFrens
  • 25% - Community Activations
  • 20% - SuperBoring
  • 10% - GoodDollar
  • 10% - Superfluid Payments
  • 5% - Streaming Donations: Giveth, Flow State/Octant, Flows.wtf
  • 5% - Nerite [to be enabled when ready]

Steps to Implement

These additional events are pre-requisite to the implementation of this proposal and can occur either before or after the proposal voting process.

  1. Superfluid Foundation mints and begins the initial distribution of the SUP token
  2. Superfluid Foundation confirms all relevant systems, applicable procedures and legal requirements are ready for Season 1 to go live.

The Foundation will then kick-off Season 1, most likely to coincide with public announcement of the launch of Superfluid DAO.

Timeline

Start date: Season 1 is expected to go live in February 2025. However the exact timeline will depend on the pre-requisite events listed above.

End date: Estimated to be 3 months. It is envisaged that Season 2 will follow Season 1 back-to-back.

Overall Cost

No significant incremental costs are expected to be incurred by the Foundation from the implementation of this proposal.

SIP #1 is a strong step toward getting SUP tokens into the hands of real users and driving adoption where it matters most. By focusing on established apps already using Superfluid, this proposal ensures that incentives go to builders, creators, and contributors actively growing the ecosystem.

Here’s why I’m supporting it:

  1. It accelerates real adoption – These campaigns target live use cases where Superfluid’s streaming payments already bring value. More usage = stronger network effects.

  2. Balanced distribution across key areas – Whether it’s subscriptions (AlfaFrens), DeFi (SuperBoring), salaries (Superfluid Payments), or public goods (Giveth & Flow State), this covers a broad range of real-world applications.

  3. It sets up governance for the long term – The Proto DAO gets early involvement, setting the stage for more decentralized decision-making in future seasons.

  4. No unnecessary overhead – The Foundation is handling execution, ensuring a smooth rollout without extra costs or delays.

This proposal pushes Superfluid toward greater adoption and strengthens its ecosystem.

Great questions

  • Rationale for Season 1 was to
      1. choose the biggest apps and experiences available today in the Superfluid ecosystem and
      1. use some proxies to ‘protocol benefit’ in deciding what portion of Season 1 they receive
  • We looked at a bunch of factors including the apps’ depth of engagement and integration with the protocol, upselling/cross-selling/rev share potential for the protocol, average usage of the protocol per user and of course number of users of the app.

We will get more scientific about these factors in the future. As we start distributing tokens to different cohorts, it should be possible to start analysing behavior to inform Season 2, which will be a blank slate.

  • Did incentivising AlfaFrens bring more users?
  • Did incentives to payment recipients lead them to try out more ecosystem apps?
  • Did retroactive incentives (in the community activations) re-engage older users?

Hoping once we see how Season 1 goes and how/if the recipients behaviours change and benefit the protocol, we will have more data points to improve on this approach.

I’m voting Yes.

I don’t see any glaring holes and think that launching and gathering data to inform future seasons is more valuable than theory in this situation.
