Season 3 Ideas - Farcaster Streaming Tips

Season 3 Ideas - Farcaster Streaming Tips

  1. Project Name

    • beamZ (working name)
  2. Project Description

    • A mini app for streaming tips
  3. Website

  4. How does the project use Superfluid?

    • Super tokens streaming through Superfluid distribution pools to builders & content creators based on user interactions (likes, comments, follows, & recasts)
  5. Team Members

  6. Social Links

  7. Dune dashboard (if available)

    • N/A
  8. Contract Addresses

    • We will be launching & tracking one GDA/distribution pool per user
  9. Networks

    • Base
  10. SuperTokens Used

    • USDCx
  11. Total Superfluid Volume

  • Upcoming - End of July Launch
  1. Total Users

    • Upcoming - End of July Launch
  2. Current Daily Active Users

    • Upcoming - End of July Launch
  3. Current Superfluid Volume

    • Upcoming - End of July Launch
  4. Fee Structure

    • We’ll include multiple (gamified) methods for users to include our team as recipients in their distribution pool. This will likely be optional at the app level, but required for SUP eligibility to combat farming via zero-cost infinite stream loops.
  5. User Personas

    • Farcaster users (Subscribers) - Farcaster users are web3 natives. There is a strong culture of rewarding builders and creators on the platform. They are responsive to incentives and trying new onchain products.
    • Content creators (Recipients) - The Farcaster network elevates content creators, mostly web3 native, but there are conscious efforts to expand to other content areas.
    • There will be a crossover between the user types. This is a very good thing as earning a stream lowers the friction to opening & maintaining a stream.
  6. KPI to be incentivised by SUP

    • Volume streamed (linear SUP XP per $1 streamed)
    • Distribution pools funded (1-time SUP XP bonus per user)
    • Joining the Flow State, Superfluid, & beamZ channels

Product Overview
The Farcaster team and network have shown a strong appetite for rewarding content creators. Farcaster has a native weekly tipping feature. Projects like Noice, Tipn & Degen have shown users’ willingness to engage with innovative reward models.

But all of these projects rely on discrete microtransactions. Every interaction has an incremental impact on the tipper’s wallet/budget. While Farcaster & crypto in general have clearly lowered the friction (fees, UX) associated with microtransactions, there’s an inherent cognitive load to “spending money.”

We think there’s an opportunity in the market based on this cognitive friction. Our solution uses Superfluid streams, and we call it beamZ.

beamZ is your personalized Farcaster rewards distribution algorithm.

  1. It is a Farcaster mini app where users set a monthly rewards budget that is streamed through personal Superfluid distribution pools to users that they interact with.

  2. Subscribers naturally engage with content & builders on the network without burdening every interaction as a financial one.

    • Every like, recast, comment, follow, etc, automatically triggers assignment of shares in the subscriber’s personal GDA/distribution pool. It’s like Noice but with GDA shares rather than traditional ERC20 tokens.
  3. The more you engage with a particular user, the higher % of your rewards stream they earn. Incremental interactions with beamZ don’t affect your monthly budget.

    • Our goal is to create an experience where you financially reward builders and content creators on Farcaster that you find valuable without making every micro-interaction on the platform a budget decision. The setup is akin to the money you pay for a Spotify subscription being allocated exclusively based on the artists you listen to.
    • We think this mindset shift will lead to more natural interactions, scalable rewards curation, and more sustainable revenue opportunities for creators.
    • We will allow users to reset their GDA weights anytime, but we could also see the weights assigned in their GDA becoming a useful onchain artifact detailing what/who that user finds valuable.
  4. We will use USDCx on Base for all distribution pools.

    • We believe concentrating all rewards activity on a single token will help lower adoption friction (i.e., if you have earned from another user’s beamZ stream, you can use those earnings to start your own rewards payout) and minimize technical and UX complexity.
    • We will explore the ability to configure pools with any Super Token and potentially multiple concurrent distributions per user over time.
  5. We will utilize in-feed bot replies and mini app notifications to increase engagement & promote virality.

    • First-time beamZ recipients will be tagged in-feed with instructions to “claim” their stream earnings and install the app. At a technical level, shares in each new GDA need to be claimed to be incorporated into the user’s real-time balance–we’ll batch these claims for ease of use.
    • We can notify existing app users if they need to top up their Super Token balance and with other strategic engagement opportunities.

Starting a beamZ subscription in short-term isolation is an altruistic act (the content you’re paying for is free). Clearly there’s culture in Farcaster that elevates this type of activity, but external incentives play a big role too. We believe that with a sufficient spark from SUP rewards, we can create a high-velocity economic flywheel (a la AlfaFrens when it launched) and get more Super Tokens into Farcaster wallets. By using a Super Token stablecoin, we will open opportunities for more streaming subscriptions and payments on Farcaster.

This Season 3 thread is such a great idea. Focusing on Farcaster and streaming is definitely the right move.

It really helps creators share their ideas and get rewarded for being active. That way, more people discover Superfluid and start using it.

The more creative projects we see, the faster the whole ecosystem grows.

Really cool initiative

gm gm. Good time for an update from the Beamr (formerly beamZ) team since we’re at the mid-point of voting for S3 SUP voting.

After posting this plan, we got some great feedback in DMs that caused us to rethink our strategy. Basically, we should be thinking bigger…

So we are.

The big news is that we’re going to launch a native tipping token for the app with our friends at Streme. They’ve been crushing it. We’re excited to collab to push the envelope on the cool, composable things you can do with money streams—not just staking & tipping…

Much, much more to come here, but we’re confident this will be a great showcase for the Superfluid ecosystem and exciting for our users.

Obligatory Warning: We’ll post the official token from our new Beamr Farcaster account with sufficient warning, so don’t FOMO into anything.

On the nuts & bolts side of things, development is coming along well. We have the core infra to manage user distribution pools running. We’re putting a lot of work into making the experience feel snappy—orchestrating data and actions across the Farcaster feed, Superfluid subgraph, and onchain. We have some creative onramps in the works to get users started with Beamr as frictionlessly as possible. We get more excited about this every day we work on it.

With these big new plans, our new launch target is late August. We’d love to do that with a nice allocation of S3 SUP :crossed_fingers:, so please consider putting your votes on " beamZ - Farcaster Streaming Tips" in the Snapshot vote before August 12th!
