Season 3 Ideas - Strategic Streaming Funding Campaigns
1. Project Name
- Flow State
2. Project Description
- Flow State is a streaming funding platform and builder coop. We’ve built funding allocation mechanisms like Streaming Quadratic Funding, Flow Councils, & Flow Guilds that have been used to stream ~140k USD equivalent to builders. This proposal is to use SUP to support the strategic adoption of streaming grants programs in partner ecosystems.

4. How does the project use Superfluid?
- Everything we build uses Superfluid at its core—spanning the full protocol lineup of Super Tokens, CFAs, and GDAs. We experiment with different business logic, voting mechanisms, and allocation tools to direct funding streams where they’re most impactful.

15. Fee Structure
- Our out-of-the-box tools are free to use & open source
- 10% of sponsored volume for white-glove/custom rounds
16. User Personas
- Protocol/DAO/Foundation Representatives - web3 treasury decision makers are charged with allocating funding to grow their ecosystem and deliver on their respective mission. Grants programs are often one of their biggest and high-profile expenditures. They naturally seek to maximize their ROI and are seeking innovative solutions. They make direct grant decisions or seek to create participatory systems powered by community input. They want to attract talented builders, apps, and impact makers to their ecosystem/cause.
- Dedicated Domain Allocators are subject matter experts trusted with allocating a pool of capital within a clearly defined area. DDA is the primary method by which Gitcoin DAO plans to operate their quarterly funding events going forward. DDAs are intended to be allocation mechanism agnostic and open to new tools that solve the problems that they deeply understand better.
17. KPI to be incentivised by SUP
- Streaming grant program sponsorship
- Donation volume in crowdfunding formats
- Various engagement awards depending on the round structure
Product Overview
This proposal is to accelerate strategic adoption of streaming grants programs with Flow State by providing SUP to incentivize participation in grants programs and/or reward ecosystem sponsors for creating streaming income opportunities with their treasury.
Ecosystems that adopt these programs turn the talented builders, operators, and impact makers they support into Superfluid users. Streaming income is the ideal onramp to using products like Superboring, streaming subscriptions, and more.
These ecosystems also gain a vested operational interest in Superfluid’s success. We can further strengthen the alignment by making them SUP holders. With success and exposure, these partners may integrate streaming into other parts of their operations, protocol, and/or app (we’ve already seen this with Octant).
In Season 1, our primary focus was our Streaming Quadratic Funding round with Octant. In Season 2, our primary partner round is the GoodBuilders Program Flow Council with GoodDollar, Celo Public Goods, & Karma GAP.
For Season 3, we’ve been exploring program concepts with multiple strategic partners and target events:
- Octant is a leader in Ethereum network goods funding. They’ve staked 100k+ ETH and use the (significant) yield to sustainably fund Ethereum core infrastructure, builders, impact makers, etc. They’re in the midst of developing their v2 protocol, which offers modular capital formation and allocation tools for other ecosystems to adopt similar yield-driven funding models. Dragon Vaults (i.e., DeFi yield-generating vaults) launch this fall, and the Octant team has committed to connecting one of their funding sources to a streaming allocation mechanism—likely a Flow Council. Program details are TBD, but Octant is the perfect example of an aligned partner that has made Superfluid part of their ecosystem strategy, and it’s a big win for all parties. As a part of this round launch, we’ll be sunsetting the original Octant SQF round.
- GG24 is Gitcoin DAO’s next quarterly funding event. While previously known as primarily a (traditional) quadratic funding platform, the DAO is transitioning to a new multi-mechanism focus and governance process. It is scheduled for kickoff in October 2025–midway through S3. The final Dedicated Domain Allocators (who will steward multiple pools of grant capital) have not been chosen, but we have long-time, strong relationships with likely selections and expressed interest in utilizing streaming funding within their domains. A strong showing in GG24 will open up opportunities for streaming funding in subsequent quarters and in entirely separate grants programs as Gitcoin Grants has significant reach.
- Octant + 1 GG24 round would be a strong quarter, but we’re actively engaging with other DAOs/foundations to launch additional streaming grant programs. We plan to double down on the programs and partners developed in S2 as well. Having a known SUP allocation while navigating these discussions only strengthens our pitch.
